Nippers introduces children to the beach and surf environment in a fun, supportive and age-appropriate way. Ages 5-14 years.
Throughout the season, Nippers participate in activities including:
Children don't have to be future competitive surf athletes to enjoy Nippers. For many families, it's simply about developing confidence around the ocean, making friends and spending Sunday mornings together at the beach.

Welcome to Forster Nippers
Forster Nippers is a fantastic way for children to build confidence at the beach, develop surf and water safety skills, stay active, make new friends and become part of the Forster Surf Life Saving Club community.
Nippers isn't just about learning to swim or use a board. Our young members learn how to understand the ocean, recognise hazards, help themselves and others in the water and work together as a team – all while having plenty of fun along the way.
2026/27 Nippers Season - Important Dates
Season Starts - Sunday 18 October 2026, 9.15am for 9.30am Start
Christmas Party & Summer Holiday Breakup - Sunday 13th December 2026
Nippers Returns - Sunday 7th February 2027
End of Season/Final Nippers - 14th March 2027
Additional carnival, competition and special event dates will be communicated to families throughout the season via Nippers Facebook Page.
Nippers is a Family Activity
One of the things that makes Nippers special is that the whole family can be involved.
Our Sunday mornings are made possible by volunteers, and you don't need to be a lifesaver to help.
Parents, grandparents and family members can assist with:
Some families help regularly and others help when they can. Every contribution makes a difference.
If you're interested in becoming qualified for water safety, we'd also love to help you take that next step.
From Nipper to Lifesaver
As our Nippers get older, they have the opportunity to put the skills they've developed over the years into practice.
Eligible Nippers can work towards their Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC), learning practical rescue, CPR, communication and lifesaving skills.
It's an exciting milestone – progressing from being a Nipper supported by our lifesavers to becoming a young lifesaver who can assist with water safety and eventually patrol our beach.
For many of our young members, Nippers is just the beginning of a lifelong involvement in Surf Life Saving.
